Peseta to euro converter: what it is and how it works

Many Spanish documents from before 2002 — property deeds, inheritances, contracts, payslips or invoices — show amounts in pesetas. To find their value in euros, divide by the official rate of 166.386 pesetas per euro, set irrevocably on 1 January 1999.

Amounts are often given in thousands of pesetas or millions of pesetas, so the converter lets you choose the unit. The result is rounded to two decimals, as the conversion rules required. It does not include inflation since then.

How to use it

  1. Choose pesetas to euros.
  2. Enter the amount and choose pesetas, thousands or millions.
  3. Read the equivalent in euros.
FormulaEuros = pesetas ÷ 166.386
