Spain net salary calculator: what it is and how it works
In Spain, your gross salary is the figure in your contract and your net salary is what reaches your bank account. Two deductions sit in between. The first is your Social Security contribution: in 2026, 4.70 % for common contingencies, 0.15 % for the intergenerational equity mechanism (MEI), 0.10 % for vocational training and 1.55 % for unemployment (1.60 % on temporary contracts), on a base capped at €5,101.20 a month. Above that cap a small solidarity contribution also applies.
The second is IRPF withholding (Spanish income tax), which your employer calculates with the Tax Agency’s general procedure: it subtracts Social Security, €2,000 of expenses and, on lower salaries, an earned-income reduction; applies the withholding scale; and deducts the part matching your personal and family allowance, which depends on your children, age or disability. This calculator follows that procedure with 2026 figures for the common tax territory; it does not apply to the Basque Country or Navarre.

Frequently asked questions
How much is €30,000 gross in net monthly pay in Spain?
Without children and with a permanent contract, about €1,651.71 net in 14 payments or €1,927 in 12. With children or a non-earning spouse, withholding is lower and net pay higher.
Why doesn’t my payslip match exactly?
Your payslip depends on your collective agreement, bonuses, overtime, benefits in kind and the information you gave your employer on form 145. The calculator gives an estimate under the general rules.
Is it better to be paid in 12 or 14 payments?
You earn the same over the year. With 14 payments you get two extra payments (usually June and December) and smaller monthly payments; with 12, the extras are spread across each month.
Does it apply to the Basque Country and Navarre?
No. These regions have their own income tax rules and different withholding tables.
